New vice presidents at HSD

The Board of Management welcomes its new members: Jan Eden, now head of the new area of responsibility of organisation, quality and digitalisation management, and Prof. Dr. Manfred Wojciechowski, the new vice president for research and knowledge transfer. He is taking over from his predecessor Prof. Dr. Horst Peters, who has been the vice president for more than four years while also being vice president for alumni relations and continuing education. Both vice presidents were proposed by an internal search commission and elected on 3 December 2020 by the University Election Assembly.

Jan Eden has gained extensive experience in academia. Having studied German, history and philosophy at University of Cologne (UzK), he started working as a research assistant at UzK and then continued his career in the industry – working as support and quality manager at equinux AG (Munich), amongst other positions. In 2008, he returned to UzK, first as an IT expert in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, later as project manager for the university-wide introduction of an integrated campus management system. Since 2016, he has been head of digital studies as well as head of the presidential commission for information and communications technology. In addition, he has contributed to various inter-university projects. He is a member of the ZKI task force for strategy and organisation as well as spokesperson of the CAMPUSonline Advisory Boards of TU Graz – Graz University of Technology.

Prof. Dr. Manfred Wojciechowski took over the professorship for informatics, web technologies in particular, at the Faculty of Media in 2013. He completed his doctoral degree at TU Dortmund University in 2011, having written his thesis on context modelling for ambient assisted living. Earlier, he worked as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer institute for software and systems engineering in Dortmund. His teaching and research activities focus on the development of innovative IT technologies in the field of ambient assisted living, particularly for outpatient and inpatient care.

The Chairperson of the University Council Herbert K. Meyer congratulates the new vice presidents and wishes them every success for their term of office.
