Refugees as guest students
Hochschule Düsseldorf – University of Applied Sciences opens classes to refugees. Each faculty of HSD has opened a selection of lectures for refugees to attend free of charge. Most of the lectures are taught in German, so for these lectures basic German language proficiency is required. But some of the lectures are taught in English and do not require German language proficiency.
As a guest student you will gain insight into the academic structures and life as a student of HSD and you will get in touch with fellow students and teachers. Please note: You will not be entitled to pass examinations; if you attend regularly and actively, you can request a certificate of attendance.
The status as a guest student does not have any impact on your asylum proceedings. Neither does is guarantee a place to study at HSD, nor does it entitle you to apply for a stipend or a semester ticket.
How can you apply?
- an application form Application for admission as guest student, which you save and fill in on your computer, then sign,
- a confirmation of your asylum status or a similar status here in Düsseldorf and surroundings.
