HSD-Japan Gateway

HSD-Japan Gateway is a project funded by the German Academic Exchange (DAAD) under the Internationalisation of Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS.International) programme 2025. This programme is designed to enable universities of applied sciences to advance their internationalisation at all levels of the university and establish sustainable internationalisation structures and strategically oriented collaborations.

Building on its long-standing academic cooperation with several Japanese universities and the deep rooted business ties to Japan in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Düsseldorf in particular, HSD aims to expand and intensify its collaboration with Japanese partner institutions. Over the course of three years (2026–2028) we will work on enhancing exchange opportunities for students and staff by implementing short-term mobility programs such as Summer and Winter Schools, promoting internship mobility and developing interdisciplinary joint teaching and research projects in the field of digitalization and digitality in general and the the topics of Mixed Media and Human Data Interaction in particular.
