The University of Applied Sciences (HSD) was successful in the nationwide Programme for Female Professors (Professorinnenprogramm 2030), a joint initiative of the German federal and state governments, and received a distinction for its gender equality concept. This places the university among five out of 44 selected universities whose concepts were assessed as particularly convincing by an independent review panel and which are regarded as universities with a strong gender equality profile.
The positive evaluation enables HSD to apply for funding for gender equality measures as well as initial funding to support the first-time appointment of women to permanent professorships.
The Professorinnenprogramm is the central instrument of the federal and state governments in Germany for promoting gender equality at universities. The distinction awarded also recognizes the outstanding quality of HSD’s gender equality concept. It is granted exclusively to universities whose strategies for promoting gender equality are particularly convincing because they clearly identify existing structural inequalities, contextualize them within institutional structures, and develop concrete measures aimed at achieving gender parity.
With the award as a “university with strong gender equality”, HSD can also fund a position for a female researcher or artist at an early career stage, in order to more effectively support pathways to professorships and better structure the transition from the qualification phase to an academic career.
