Advice and help for students and staff with children

Studying as a parent often means a balancing act between lectures, exam pressure, job and raising children, accompanied by money worries and the fear of failing to fulfil properly either parental duties or academic requirements.

That’s why HSD offers support measures specially designed for student parents.

If they need emergency childcare, students have the possibility to leave their children in “Rappelkiste”, the supervised playroom at the Family Support Centre. Upon prior arrangement, staff at the Family Support Centre take care of university members’ children between the ages of three months and ten years.

Apart from “Rappelkiste, HSD also offers holiday care in the Easter, summer and autumn vacations for university members’ children between the ages of six and ten years. In addition, there are events each semester for students with children, such as a brunch, a flea market with clothes, toys etc. for children or short excursions, such as night rambles and climbing expeditions.
