At the end of the orientation weeks we go for a hike to the Drachenfels in Königswinter. We also visit the fairytale castle Drachenburg.​

Wednesday 1 April // Start of weekly "Sprachcafé mOndial" - POSTPONED!

Every Wednesday evening, participants of the HSD language courses and other German and international students will meet at the Sprachcafé mOndial. You are cordially invited to practice your intercultural competence and language skills with free drinks and funny quiz questions.

Wednesday 1 April // Guided Tour of Alter Schlachthof Memorial Centre (English)  - CANCELLED!

The memorial at the Alter Schlachthof, located directly on our campus today, commemorates the crimes committed during the reign of the National Socialist regime. We invite you to an introduction to the history and significance of the former slaughterhouse, which was used as a collection point before the deportations to the concentration camps.

Wednesday 20 May // In Conversation with the Foreigners’ Registration Office: Right of Residence for International Students (German, questions in English welcome!)

In cooperation with the International Office of Heinrich Heine University and the Office for Migration and Integration Düsseldorf. If you have ever asked yourself “Do I need official permission if I want to get a job?”, “does an internship count towards my permissible days of work?” or “do I need to inform the Foreigners’ Office when I move to a different city?” this lecture is for you. You will get valuable insight into proceedings at the Office and there will be time for individual questions.

Wednesday 3 June // Lecture: German Labour Law 101 (German, questions in English welcome!)

In cooperation with Heinrich Heine University. 

A lawyer will inform you about German labour law – everything you need to know from contract of employment to reference letters. After the lecture, you will have a chance to ask questions.

The International Office invites all HSD students to this cultural exchange.
The WinterParty offers the opportunity to try international delicacies, make new contacts and exchange ideas with other students about the past semester at the HSD.
