​​​​​​​​​Which documents do I need ​for the​ application?​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Please start collecting the necessary information well in advance, compile the application documents carefully, and submit your application well before the deadline to ensure that your application is successful!

We highly recommend reading the information provided on the uni-assist website, especially the 'How to apply' and 'Tools' sections.

1. Application procedure

  1. Read the programme websites about the deegree-specific requirements (German and English proficiecy, internship, aptitude test, etc.). 

    The following tutorials will guide you through the process of preparing your application:

    Use the Tool section on uni-assist for further information and country-specific requirements. 

  2. Register at hochschulstart.de (only for applicants applying for admission-restricted (NC) Bachelor's degree programmes). Further information on our website DoSV.

  3. Register at the uni-assist online portal and upload your documents. 

  4. Apply online via uni-assist for the programme with all your documents by paying the service fee to uni-assist as soon as applications are open.

You do not need a preliminary examination certificate (VPD) to apply to Hochschule Düsseldorf – University of Applied Sciences. Applications are submitted directly via uni-assist.


2. Application documents

Applications must be submitted online. Please upload scanned versions of the original documents.

If any documents are not in German or English, please upload both the original document and a translation.

You will need to upload the following documents when applying via uni-assist:

  • A copy of your passport (page with your personal information)

  • School leaving certificate with an overview of subjects and grades.
    >>Please submit all documents relating to your school leaving certificate 

  • if applicable, university entrance examinations
  • if applicable, certificate of the Studienkolleg and Feststellungsprüfung 

  • if applicable, certificate of study from a German university, if you were previously enrolled at a German university
  • proof of any previously earned study credits from a foreign university and your university degree certificate, including transcripts with an overview of subjects and grades of your entire academic career. No parts of your certificate should be missing.
    Attention: Also submit a copy of the grading system for your particular degree at your university, if this is not included in your transcript of records.

  • if available, your module handbook or the module descriptions for your bachelor's degree
  • certificate of the successfully completed aptitude test (only for applicants for the Faculties of  Architecture and Design)

  • for the bachelor's programme Taxation Dual: trainee contract for the minimum duration of 2.5 years as a qualified tax consultant in the NRW chamber district; registration at the vocational school, Max-Weber Berufskolleg in Düsseldorf registration for vocational school training and proof of having a higher education contract. Please refer to this page for more information before applying.

  • for the bachelor's programme Electrical Engineering and Information Technology Practice-integrated (bachelor): an appropriate training or employment contract for at least one year, with a professional orientation corresponding to the programme. Please refer to this page​ for more information before applying.

  • for the bachelor's programme Technical Building Services and Energy System Engineering: proof of a pre-study internship (at least 6 months full-time) or a successfully completed apprenticeship (Gesellenprüfung) in a craft business in the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and sanitary sector. Please refer to this page for more information before applying.
  • special additional application form (only for M.A. Empowerment Studies, M.A. Culture, Aesthetics, Media, M.A. Psychosocial Counselling, M.A. Communication, Multimedia and Market Management)
    The respective form will be available for download during the online application process in the uni-assist portal. You need to fill in the form and send it directly to the admission office at Hochschule Düsseldorf together with the documents named in the form. 
     
  • original or digitally signed APS certificate (for all applicants with degrees from China, India and Vietnam). For information about APS please click here.

3. Apply online

     Log into your uni-assist account and select the programme(s) your wish to apply for at HSD. Answer all
     required questions and upload your documents on uni-assist.

     Please note: Keep in mind to submit your application with all required documents before the deadline  
     Missing documents can only be submitted before the application deadline.

 

4. Application fees

  • The first application costs: EUR 75 
  • Each additional application costs: EUR 30

uni-assist’s bank details as well as further information concerning payment options can be found on uni-assist's website.
Please note, that your bank might charge you additional fees for international transfers.​​

  • uni-assist will try – but is not obliged – to inform you in time, in case your application documents are incomplete or late.
  • It is not possible to submit documents after the application deadline.
  • Your application is only valid for one semester.
